BRONXARTSPACE

BronxArtSpace supports underrepresented and emerging artists and fosters arts education through themed exhibitions and events in Mott Haven in the South Bronx. BronxArtSpace was founded by Linda Cunningham and Mitsu Hadeishi. Events include exhibitions in collaboration with a number of artists, filmmakers, and curators from the Bronx and around the world. 

 

BILINGUAL FOUNDATION OF THE ARTS

The Bilingual Foundation of the Arts (BFA) has a 42-year history of commitment to all people in the greater Los Angeles area, presenting the finest Hispanic literary culture for both Spanish and English-speaking audiences. BFA's presence is an integral part of the Los Angeles cultural scene and provides an added dimension of understanding between the diverse cultures of the area by emphasizing the similarities of the human condition, which serve to unite us.

 

DREAMYARD

DreamYard uses the arts to inspire youth, public schools and communities. DreamYard programs develop artistic voices, nurturing young peoples’ desire to make change and cultivate the skills necessary to reach positive goals. By committing to sustained learning opportunities along an educational pathway, DreamYard supports young people as they work toward higher learning, meaningful careers and social action.

BREGAMOS THEATER

Housed in a former artillery factory, Bregamos Theater provides a space where community members from all walks of life, all ages, and backgrounds can participate in the different facets of theater. The theater provides workshops that cover all aspects of the theatrical profession, including acting, writing, directing, casting, set designs, costume design, sound, and lighting, and also offers after-school programs for young people and intergenerational programs where seniors and the youth can come together to blend their experiences into rich theatrical creations.

COMO UN LUGAR

COMO UN LUGAR is a publishing cooperative that prints in Buenos Aires. We believe in free access to literature and for this reason, in addition to marketing physical books, we share books digitally under Creative Commons licenses. We specialize in books of poetry, translations, essays, and hybrid texts that do not quite fit current genre conventions. We believe that literature should be able to reach everywhere and that artists and writers should receive financial recognition for their work. These ideas do not have to be exclusive. Our books are funded by readers, donors, and government organizations to ensure that the literature circulates and that authors can continue to write.

 

FOLKLORE URBANO NYC

is a musical production company founded by Colombian composer/pianist Pablo Mayor and flutist Anna Povich de Mayor.  We uplift and inspire through our renowned ensembles and productions, Pablo Mayor’s compositional work that can be heard on productions from artists ranging from Totó la Momposina to Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, an educational program Cumbia for Kids, our collaborative work with iD Studio Theater in the South Bronx, and our close work with choreographer/dancer Daniel Fetecua.’’

 

INSPIRATION POINT

Inspiration Point Center for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a cultural arts center in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx. Our mission is to provide essential community programming and representation, free and low-cost access to the arts, and opportunities and support for local artists. Our theater showcases theatrical, dance, and musical performances by local youth, community, and professional theater groups. The gallery presents exhibitions, classes, and workshops. Our artist and specialty studios provide affordable access to workspaces for emerging and established artists. Inspiration Point is located in The Peninsula, a vibrant, mixed-use campus, home to small start-ups and growing manufacturing businesses. This new development serves as a live-work community for the South Bronx tech and creative sectors.

LINCOLN HOSPITAL

Lincoln Hospital is a full-service medical center and teaching hospital affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College, in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City, New York. The medical center is municipally owned by NYC Health + Hospitals.

 

OPEN HYDRANT THEATER COMPANY

Open Hydrant Theater Company @ The Point's mission is to maintain an ensemble-based theater company in the densely populated, yet under-served, community of the South Bronx. Our purpose is to produce yearly seasons of creative works based largely on, but not limited to, non-traditional, interactive interpretations of Shakespeare's plays, as well as other literary classics and works by new playwrights.

STELLA ADLER STUDIO OF ACTING

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting is a prestigious acting school that was founded by actress and teacher Stella Adler. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting has two locations: its original New York City conservatory, founded in 1949, and the Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles.

 

THÉÂTRE DU BOUT DU MONDE

Founded in 1996 and based in Nanterre, France, the Théâtre du Bout du Monde is a theater organization that seeks to activate and empower marginalized communities through the practice of theater. The company produces workshop series, performances, and partnerships with amateur and professional performers, and in conjunction with partner organizations in the district of Nanterre and internationally. 

 

THE POINT CDC

THE POINT Community Development Corporation is dedicated to youth development and the cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. Celebrating over 20 years of service, THE POINT offers a multi-faceted approach to asset-based community development. Its programming falls within three main headings all aimed at the comprehensive revitalization of the Hunts Point community: Youth Development, Arts and Culture and Community Development.

 

UNIDAD LATINA EN ACCIÓN

Founded in 2002, Unidad Latina en Acción, or ULA, is an immigrant rights organization based at 37 Howe Street— known as the New Haven People's Center. A grassroots social justice organization made up of immigrants in the Greater New Haven area, many of whom have suffered human rights abuses on the job and in the immigration system, ULA works to address human rights abuses and take action. The organization provides crucial support to immigrant individuals and families (including many involved in our project), who would otherwise be left to navigate the complex immigration court system alone.
