Every day, we celebrate women who strive to get ahead, make society a better place, fulfill their dreams, and support their families. Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual commemoration of African Americans' accomplishments and a chance to appreciate their significant role in American history. The commemoration, also known as African American History Month, has grown from a one-week event to a month-long celebration in February.

This month, and always, let us seize every chance to educate ourselves, learn from one another, elevate, and celebrate the Black community.

ID Studio Theater has partnered with PlayCo to present “Django in Pain”

Which chronicles the misfortunes and adventures of a man and a three-legged dog, in a multi-layered tale of despair, loyalty and hope. Exploring the possibilities of creativity and collaboration within the constraints of depression and isolation, Ana Graham and Antonio Vega use hand-made puppets and found objects to create a marvelous world the size of a drafting desk. The play will be presented in Spanish with English subtitles.

“YOU ARE THE ONLY FRIEND I NEED”

We are honored to host Alejandro Heredia (@aleherex) once again at ID Studio for the launch of his latest work! Alejandro is a queer Afro-Dominican writer and community organizer born in Santo Domingo and raised in The Bronx. In addition to his own accomplishments, he works tirelessly to establish and uplift diverse literary voices in our city. We are excited about the launch of this book and all the work Alejandro is doing on behalf of the creative, intellectual, and social lives of Black LGBTQ people across the diaspora.

“La María Esa”!

Los Ninos Perdidos & Immigrant Based Panels

ID Studio and The Tank are #CelebratingImmigrants with a special presentation of the play "Los Niños Perdidos" and two immigrant based panels.

June 24th features leading immigration experts to discuss the current state of policies and ways we can stay informed and support our communities.

June 25 features an outstanding group of immigrant artists discussing their work, the intersection of their identities and how their work is shaping our cultural landscape.


Summer Arts Conservatory

Participants (Ages 9-12) will have the opportunity to develop artistically through dance, music, and theater by working with instructors to hone their skills!

Please prepare a showcase of a one minute monologue, dance routine, or song of your choice. If your child/children play an instrument, they are welcome to showcase that as well. They may also come with no material and we will provide slides for a cold audition.
